"Fall Kosmos"

kosmos:  (Greek)  1. orderly arrangement; 2. ornaments of a woman's dress, decoration; 3. the universe, the world.

Discarded things become objects of beauty that evoke the universe, as they are destined to disappear and rejoin the earth.

This video (and the mini photo series here: www.jenniferwangphotography.com/fall-kosmos-1/ ) was born out of a small but significant coincidence that occurred during a difficult moment in my life. I was experiencing a lot of despair over these major parts of my life that were out of my control--my love life, my career, and my legal status in France. I felt totally lost and hopeless, not sure which path would lead to happiness and peace of heart. I started meditating regularly, and during some meditations, I received timely messages from my Higher Self. One early one was, "Just be like a leaf, floating on a river. Let the river take you where it will." I realized this inner voice was right; it was my desire for control over everything that took away my ability to simply have faith in the flow of my life. A week after receiving this message, I was shooting near a town outside Paris around dusk, and found myself fascinated by all these fallen leaves floating from the canal out to the river it connected with. Completely captivated, I stood on this bridge and shot these leaves for maybe 30 minutes. It was afterward, on the train home, that I suddenly connected my experience with the message. So voilà, there's my little story. Songs: Building Time Lapse Three Colors Brightening All music by Podington Bear (www.podingtonbear.com)
